A fabulous 15th century inn, overlooking the village green in this picturesque village. This is the perfect place for a long lunch or dinner, they also serve teas and coffees all day and have a wonderful bar with a roaring fire in the winter.
Their head chef creates each dish with delicious predominantly regional produce, and the menu caters for everyone, including gluten free and plant-based options. To top it off, they have an extensive selection of drinks; from real ales, wine, cocktails, and many non-alcoholic options as well including mocktails.
The Black Lion is definitely one of my favourite places, and very dog friendly too. There is also a lovely little seating area to the front of the inn, an ideal spot to enjoy the summer sun and admire the views over the green towards Melford Hall.
