Earl Soham: The Victoria

Victoria

A great, old, real ale pub that time seems to have forgotten! It appears that it hasn’t been decorated for years, which actually really works! It’s a very quaint ‘real’ pub with wooden floors, plus a roaring double-sided open fire in the winter.

They have their own brewery producing Victoria and (you’ve guessed it) Albert ales. It’s right on the A1120, on the right hand side heading away from Stonham Aspal; set back from road behind a small green.

The Victoria serve home made good value meals, at lunchtimes and evenings, and there’s always a wonderful smell of food in there. The pub has simple wood furnishings, bare floorboards and an open fire which provides an effective back-drop to the excellent beer brewed a few yards away in the village. It can get very busy but it’s definitely worth a visit. It’s a real quirky one and my guests are loving it. Mainly because there’s nothing like it near them!
