Cycling in Suffolk: Claydon loop

Suffolk cycles

There are some great cycling routes in Suffolk, many in Mid-Suffolk. This route is close to Woodfarm and does a loop of Claydon via Cretingham.

We’ve sourced this ride off Cycle-route.com, below are more details about the route and places along the way where you can stop for a bite to eat:

Distance: 32 miles

Duration: 3hrs, 6 mins

Difficulty: This cycle route has a difficulty rating of 5/10

This a good route taking in some quite picturesque villages in a loop north of Ipswich, trying where possible to avoid the larger or busier sections of nearby A & B roads. There are a good variation of hills for those who like a challenge. There is a particularly sharp bend with a 12% gradient on the A1120 at Pettaugh that is worth bearing in mind.

There are mainly nice village pubs along this route, the Fountain at Tuddenham does fantastic food, as does the Sorrel Horse at Barham. There are also village stores at Claydon, Otley and Coddenham. Other than that, just enjoy the green and pleasant countryside.
